Sitemaps are great for search engines—but reading a raw sitemap.xml
isn’t the easiest way to understand a site’s structure. With ToDiagram’s XML to diagram feature, you can turn a sitemap into a clear, interactive diagram that’s easy to scan, share, and act on.
Why visualize a sitemap?
- See structure fast: Spot sections, depth, and patterns at a glance.
- Find gaps: Identify missing areas or thin sections that need content.
- Prioritize fixes: Surface deep pages, duplicates, or outdated sections.
- Share clearly: Communicate architecture with non‑technical stakeholders.
Convert sitemap.xml
into a diagram
- Open ToDiagram and set the format to XML.
- Paste your
sitemap.xml
or upload the file. - The diagram renders instantly. Expand, collapse, and navigate like a map.
- Use Search to filter paths (e.g.,
/blog/
,/products/
).
That’s it. You now have a visual overview of your site’s URLs without parsing tags by hand.
Tips for SEO audits
- Group by directory: Filter by path prefixes to review sections one by one.
- Spot depth: Long path segments often indicate deep pages—flag for internal linking.
- Compare versions: Use the built‑in Compare feature to diff two sitemaps (e.g., staging vs. prod) and highlight additions/removals.
- Export visuals: Save the diagram as an image for reports and stakeholder updates.
- Work at scale: Collapse or expand large branches to focus on what matters.
When to use it
- New site or migration planning
- Content inventory and pruning
- Internal linking reviews
- Crawl coverage and indexation checks
